Summer is a popular time for break ins.  Make sure you make it difficult for potential burglars to break in and ensure all your locks and deadbolts are secure and working properly.

Check locks on every window, door and any other access to your home. Check to ensure your garage and your outbuildings have secure locks too.

Tighten, secure and replace locks and deadbolts where needed.

Extend the life of your water heater and keep it running efficiently by draining your water heater at least once a year.

However, if it's been years since you've drained your water heater (or never have) you may not want to do this as it may cause more problems.  Hire a professional plumber for advice on whether you should or not.

If you decide to drain your water heater yourself use the tips in the video below.
