HOME MAINTENANCE CHECKLIST FOR SEPTEMBER

1. WASH AND LUBRICATE GARAGE DOOR

With summer wind and storms dirt gets picked up and lands in the crevices of your garage door and tracks.

Take some time to clean your garage door and lubricate it.

Hopefully you’ve watched the video above. 

He gives thorough, professional advice (and recommends you DO NOT use WD40 but a Lithium Spray instead) and has a great sense of humor. I see why it has almost 6 MILLION VIEWS.


2. CHECK HOUSE FOR AREAS WHERE CRITTERS CAN GET INSIDE

Check for areas around your home and garage areas where critters can get inside your house.  It’s a good idea to do this before fall rain storms and winter weather arrives.

We had a mouse problem in our basement and garage and found the areas in which they were coming through.

This foam sealent worked great for us.  We filled up the small access holes with it and haven’t had a problem since sealing the access points.


3. PLANT SPRING BULBS

Take time this month and plant your Spring bulbs.

Spring blooming bulbs should be planted when the soil temperature is cool and September and October are the perfect months for this.

4. SERVICE YOUR YARD EQUIPMENT

Service your yard equipment before winter storage. 

Maintaining your yard equipment and servicing them regularly will help them lengthen their longevity and ensure they’re in tip top shape when using.

5. TOSS OUT EXPIRED ITEMS FROM YOUR REFRIGERATOR

You know those items that get pushed to the back of the refrigerator and you’ve forgotten about?  Some are most likely expired!

Go through your refrigerator and toss out all of your old and expired items.

While you’re at it give your refrigerator a good cleaning.  It’s a great way to start a new season!

Natural disasters occur around us.  With hurricane season affecting many, fires and other natural disasters occuring around us…be ready and prepared for anything.

Sit down with your family and have an evacuation plan.

Maintain an emergency kit using these tips and ideas.


8. STORE SUMMER ITEMS AND REPLACE WITH FALL ITEMS

With summer drawing to a close and fall’s official arrival take time to store your summer items and replace with fall items.

9. CLEAN FRONT DOOR AND DECORATE ENTRY WITH FALL DECOR

Clean your front door and remove the summer dust and grime that collected on it.
